Elbert Hogan Obituary


Family-Placed Obituary

HOGAN, Elbert Jr. Age 82 of Lebanon, passed peacefully Friday January 15, 2005. Born January 8, 1923 in lee County, Kentucky, the son of Elbert and Pollyanne (Kilburn) Hogan, he was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had lived for many years in the South Lebanon-Morrow area, moving to Fayette County, Indiana in 1976 and returning to Lebanon in 2000. Mr. Hogan was a proud US Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a well-known businessman in Warren County, owning and operating a barbershop, real estate and insurance agencies and other business interests for a number of years. He also loved farming and farmed for many years in Morrow and later in Fayette County, Indiana. A lover of the outdoors, he participated in many long-distance canoe races throughout the United States, and was one of the founders of the Little Miami Canoe Race in Oregonia. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Eugene, Mark and Clarence Hogan, sisters Agnes Bailey, Ruth Schultz, Nora and Lydia Hogan, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 yeas, Delma (Taulbee) Hogan; sons Rudy (Sharon) Hogan and Mark (Sherry) Hogan, all of Chattanooga, Tennessee; daughter Becky (Vance) Satterthwaite of Lebanon; and, nine grandchildren. Visitation was Sunday evening with funeral services Monday, January 17, 2005, all at Stine-Kilburn Funeral Home. Burial was in the Deerfield Cemetery, South Lebanon.
