Family-Placed Obituary


SINGLETON, Harve Vester "The Honey Man", age 75, born May 3, 1929 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, the son of Sherman and Delia Singleton, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 15, 2004 at 12:50 PM. He was married November 4, 1950 to Ruby Shell in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. Harve was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed attending the O'Tucks dinner in Hamilton, where he was able to see old friends and meet new ones from his birth state. After working for Henry Owens in Richmond, Indiana he spent many years at Black and Clawson and then started his own construction business with partner Elbert Wilder in Hamilton. He enjoyed his retirement years tending to his bees and selling honey from his home, as well as taking an active part in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives. He will be missed by his family and many friends. Harve is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruby Singleton of Hamilton; sons Ronnie and his wife Susan (Smith) Singleton of Hamilton and Danny and his wife Martha (Ziegler) Singleton of Apex, North Carolina; daughter Karen Payne of Cincinnati; three grandchildren, Brian and his wife Marbella Singleton of Mesquite, Texas, Gregory Singleton of Richmond, Virginia, and Kathy (McCarty) Alcorn and her husband Jeremy of Hamilton; three great-grandchildren, Zackary Santos and Alex Alcorn, both of Hamilton, and Clarissa Singleton of Mesquite, Texas; and, one brother, Arthur Lee "Al" Singleton of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, May Vanzant, Isabel VanWinkle and Novella Tankersly; and one brother, Denzel Singleton. Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at 10:00AM with Pastor Ron Medley of Princeton Pike Church of God officiating. Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, PO Box 633597, Cincinnati, OH 45263-3597 or to Princeton Pike Church of God, 6101 Princeton-Glendale Rd., Hamilton, OH 45011.

Vester is my uncle. I used to spend almost every week-end with Ronnie & Danny. I have nothing but Good memories of Vester. Ruby, Ronnie, Danny & Hootie. Thanks for sharing your dad with all of us. All my Love, Dale.
