Iva Christine Bomske

News Death Notice

BOMSKE, Iva Christine age 76 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, February 25, 2011. She was born in Hamilton on May 24, 1934 the daughter of James Hamilton and Ella D. (Hubbard) Tussey. Iva was a 1953 graduate of Hamilton High School and was employed for a number of years at the Credit Bureau of Hamilton, National Can, and Champion International Paper. She enjoyed bowling, swimming, bingo, writing poetry, and playing cards with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her life. Iva took great pleasure in all her grandchildren's sporting events, and was an avid Reds, U.C. and OSU basketball fan. She was also a master decorator with anything beautiful, especially flowers. On April 2, 1964 in Cincinnati, she married Francis "Frank" Bomske, and he preceded her in death in 2003. She is survived by a son, Hugh Bomske; two daughters, Cheryl Lee and Kim Cole; six grandchildren, Denise, Doug, Nick, Tia, Kayla, and Alec; a great-grandson on the way, Cole Francis; a sister, Darlene Rhodus; a favorite niece, Shari Schulte; a nephew, Randy Rhodus; four close friends, Joanna, Lisa, Amy, and Candace; and numerous other relatives and friends. Also the family dog, Sassy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Don Tussey. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Haynes and Pastor Bill Hounshell of New Hope Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
