Family-Placed Obituary


POWELL, James H. Age 65, of Hamilton, died at his residence on Thursday, March 02, 2006. Born in Deluth, Kentucky, on April 27, 1940, he was the son of the late Earl and Geneva (Tackett) Powell. In Hamilton, Ohio, on February 25, 1959, James married his wife of over 46 years, June Willsey, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2003. He was a machinist for Hamilton Tool Company, a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton, a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War, and he was very active in the D.A.V. Chapter #15. James is survived by his son, Scott Powell of Hamilton; brothers and sisters, Jesse Powell, Joe Powell, Geordie Moore and his wife Barbara, Gladys Walton, all of Hamilton, Ohio, Mary Philpot of Phoenix, Arizona, Carolyn Lowe and her husband Earl of Hamilton, Ohio, Janie Broughton of Fairfield, Ohio, Bessie Davis and her husband David of Hamilton, Ohio, Lillian Webb of Fairborn, Ohio, Joy Edmonds and her husband Clarence of Hamilton, Ohio, and Prudence Ruff of Fairborn, Ohio; five grandchildren, Scott Powell, Jr., Brittany Powell, twins Kameron and Jhasmine Powell, and Christopher Powell; nieces, nephews and many friends. The funeral service will be held at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 2pm on Monday, March 6, 2006, with Rev. Theodore Burch officiating. Interment with military services will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends and family will be received prior to the service from 12noon to 2pm at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 13063, Hamilton, OH 45013-0063.
