News Death NoticeJONES, Marilee K. age 77, current resident of Hamilton, Ohio passed away April 25, 2011. Marilee believed that of all the gifts this world had to offer, the greatest amongst them was love. She gave it freely, genuinely, and unconditionally. Her childrens friends often commented about the joy they felt in her home. Marilee was often described as the lady with the beautiful smile who always wore a hat. Marilee dedicated most of her nursing career, over 20 years, to working with veterans at the VA Hospitals. She had great respect for the American military and recognized that freedom did not come free. The most important wish for Marilee was the continued success of her children, their children, and all children. Those who had the privilege to know Marilee appreciated her devotion to people, education, good health, peace and prosperity commensurate with effort and ability. Marilee graduated from the University of Michigan in 1955 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and earned her Masters of Science in nursing in 1975 from the University of Cincinnati. She also received her CSN certification in Psychiatric Nursing. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Beta Upsilon Chapter, the National Honor Society of Nursing, and a member of the Arizona Group Psychotherapy Society. During her extensive nursing career she worked at George Washington Hospital, University of Michigan Hospital, the Department of Veteran Affairs, taught nursing at Macomb College and the Hamilton Campus of Miami University and had her research and experiences published in multiple nursing journals. It amazes her children that with all her successes, her passion and proudest accomplishment was being their mother. Marilee is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Elton W. Jones; her four children and their spouses, Steven D. (Peggy) Jones of Okeana, OH, Krysten K. (Christopher) Italiano of Columbus, OH, Daniel B. Jones of Hamilton, OH, and Virginia E. (Daniel) Demopoulos of Hamilton, OH; 10 grandchildren Jennifer Jones, Jessica Jones, Rebecca Jones Larson, Eliot Desmond, Randall Jones, Alexander Demopoulos, Elizabeth Jones, Emma Demopoulos, Vincent Italiano, and Sofia Italiano; and her sister Virginia Mullin of Naples Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ramon and Virginia Lacey of Rome N.Y.; and her brother Robert Lacey of Rome N.Y. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Marilee will be held Sunday, June 5th from 3:00 pm to 6:00pm at the home of Virginia and Daniel Demopoulos, 3816 Longhorn Drive Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
