Mary Glei Obituary
News Death Notice
GLEI, Mary Agnes (Sauter) 90, of Monroe, died Monday, October 12, 2009, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village. She was born in Middletown on June 13, 1919 to parents John William and Edna (Long) Sauter. Mary graduated from Reily High School in 1937 and went on to graduate from Middletown Business College. She was employed at Sorg Paper Company for 32 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority Delta Pi Chapter, Middletown Area Senior Citizens and a lifelong member of St. Johns Church-Holy Family Parish, where she was a member of the choir for many wonderful years. She loved to travel and enjoyed playing bridge, reading, square dancing and watching football. Mrs. Glei is survived by her loving daughter, Diane Childers and son-in-law, Barry Childers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Roger B. Glei in 1995 and her parents. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mount Pleasant and their Hospice Care for all of the thoughtful care that has been given to Mary over the past years. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Oct 16, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. I was very saddened to learn of Mary's death. I was one of her former nurses and she was one of the most genuine and loving souls I've ever known. She was a true example of Christian spirit. I keep her family in my prayers.
