MICHAELS, Mattie May Was born into the home of Cora & Luther May in Frankfort, Kentucky on February 10, 1932. She passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 at the age of 83. She grew up attending church at The Salvation Army. In 1952, she was Ordained and Commissioned as a Salvation Army Officer. She served in Athens, Portsmouth, Cincinnati & Middletown, Ohio. During that time she met her future husband and on January 26, 1957 she married Ralph Michaels, also an Ordained Salvation Army minister and they started their service to the Lord and The Salvation Army. Together they served in appointments in Ohio, New York, Massachusetts & Kentucky. Upon Ralph's Promotion to Glory, Mattie moved to The Inn at Renaissance Village in Middletown, Ohio. Mattie is survived by her son, Ralph "Bud" Michaels; daughters, Jan Michaels, Jane (Eric) Fiessinger; brother, James May; sisters, Dorothy Hammonds, Mary Louise Ballard & Beverly (Jim) Horton; grandchildren, Erica, Matthew & Gregory Fiessinger; and great granddaughter, Victoria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Ralph S. Michaels; parents; brothers, Charles May, Leonard May & Ernest May; and sister, Frances Mansfield. Mattie will always be known as a gentle, loving wife, mother, grandmother & committed Christian. Her life truly reflected the Saviour she served. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Major Norman Zanders officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
