News Death Notice

PATTERSON, Mattie Katherine Born on May 20, 1919, Mattie Katherine Patterson of Middletown, Ohio departed her earthly home on July 19, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Frances (Childs) Embry. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1937. In 1941 she was joined in marriage to Harold Patterson. As a loyal and faithful member of Second Baptist Church, she was one of the original members who walked from the old church on Park Street to the current Verity Parkway location on 1937. She was an active member of the community who devoted her life to her family and friends. Blessed with an excellent memory, she enjoyed playing cards and tending to her flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Patterson, three sisters, Mrs. Frances (Selma) Briggs, Mrs. Dorothy (George) Banks, and Mrs. Fannie (Willie) Davis, three brothers Samuel (Martha) Embry Jr., James Embry and Eugene Embry. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Carole (James) Allen and Delores Culbreath, five grandchildren, James (Tina) Allen II, Jenee Allen, Cathi Culbreath, David (Sheree) Culbreath, and Duane Culbreath, 4 great-grandchildren, Jana Allen, Maya Allen, Nathaniel Culbreath, and Duane Culbreath II, special nieces Dorothy (Jervy) Barnes, Rose Johnson and Joyce Mack, and 4 generations of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Second Baptist Church, 116 S. Verity Parkway, Middletown, Ohio. Services entrusted to the Hall Jordan and Pretty Memorial Chapel.
