AUSTING, Paul Leo 59, of Taos passed away on December 22, 2008. He was born on July 3, 1949 in Hamilton, Ohio. He graduated from Badin High School in 1969. He also attended Milwaukee Technical College receiving an applied science degree of the Culinary Arts in 1972. Paul is survived by his wife, Linda, sister, Celine Burke (Dick), brothers, John (Margie), Don (Sue), nieces and nephews, Mark Burke, Angie, Nancy, Brian, Michelle, John and Jenny. Paul built, owned and operated the largest and tallest timber frame hotel in the United States. The Austing Haus hotel is located in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico. He also built the Columbine Inn, another timber frame hotel in the Taos Ski Valley. Paul's culinary skills took him to seven different countries. He served as a council member of the Village of Taos Ski Valley for four years. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 1:30 PM at St. James Episcopal Church in Taos. Dear Linda and the Austing family - we extend our deepest sympathies for your loss. Paul certainly led an interesting and full life.

From his cousins - Tom, Leah, and Gregg Austing and his aunt Romaine.

From Tom - my time visiting and skiing with Paul in Taos will not be forgotten. If there is anything I can do, please contact me.

I'm sorry to hear about Paul. I knew him and his family in Hamilton when we were growing up. I knew he was a chef and I'm glad he had so much fun with it. My condolences to the family. Dave Roden

I remember Paul when he lived in the Brookwood area in Hamilton Ohio many years ago. He was outgoing and handsome. I am so sorry to hear about his passing and happy to hear about his success in life with his businesses. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
