My Uncle Ray was one of my favorite uncles. He taught me lessons when I was younger that he may not have realized. I lost touch with him and all my family on that side in recent years, but the memories I have I'll never forget. I can only apsire to have a relationship I as strong and loving as Uncle Ray and Aunt Gerry.
Aunt Gerry, Annelise, Mike, Pete and Andy, my heart and prayers go out to you and yours.

How lucky I am to be Uncle Ray's niece! What a loving, happy, wise man he always was. With so many nieces and nephews, he still found the place in his heart to connect to me, to give me his full attention and loving gaze when I spoke (which wasn't often, as I was so quiet in those days! So, how much more it meant that he listened to me.) He was so full of joy and life. Aunt Gerry, Annelise, Michael, Peter, and Andrew - my heart is with you in these days. I know that my mother was the first to greet him - what an incredible bond those two have!
Love, Julia

Dear Uncle Ray,
Goodbye. May you find everlasting loving peace in heaven with those you love who have passed before you (including your sister, my mom). Thank you for the memories of joy and love. Love, your niece, Janet
Dear Aunt Gerry, Annelise, Peter, Michael and Andrew,
Uncle Ray was a truly special man, such a kind, optimistic and loving person!
My heart is with each of you at this time.

Dear Gerry - what a sad time this must be for you and your family. Ray was such a great asset to the Oxford Community - he will be missed when the need for a man of elegance with the strength of commoness is called for. I will not soon forget the Carleton's generosity when we struggled with hope and sadness as we watched our grandson, Josh, in his last days of CF - so my sadness is twofold today - for you and for the those you and Ray reached out to in so many unknown ways.....We keep you in our thoughts in the difficult days ahead - let these lovely spring days assure you that though death seems permanent - life through our love and memories returns in unexpected splendor

Dr. Carleton was on my Defense Committee for my MA in Playwriting from Miami back in 1990. His son, Michael is a dear friend to this day and his daughter Lisa was in my dorm at Thompson Hall at MU during my undergrad days. I still have pics of Lisa and myself dressing as "elves" to help the Oxford Lion's Club's "Santa" to hand out treats to the kids. Boy was Santa surprised when we showed up!
My heart goes out to Mike, Lisa and the rest of the Carleton clan. Dr. Ray will be missed. Best, Patrick Flick
