I'm saddened and shock by the news. I was a patient of Dr. Terhune and also knew him through Boy Scout troop 516 that both of our sons attended. You are and will always be in my thoughts.

Rick was my cousin we spent some time together when we were kids. He comes from a great family and that legacy was carried on through Rick and it will continue through his family ! So sad to here my friend is gone but his legacy will live on forever!

Dr. Terhune impressed me immensely on my first visit as an incredibly thorough, insightful, kind, and compassionate dentist and human being. He had the gift of making [so often dreaded] dental care a real pleasure. Though I may have only had the blessing of seeing him less than ten times, I am heartbroken at the loss - and can only begin to imagine the feelings of his family and those who knew him well. Praying for comfort for all whose lives this man has touched. And believing that he is now experiencing more beauty and peace than any of us can ever imagine.

There are no words that can express how sorry we are to hear about the untimely death of Rick (Dr. Terhune) we were beyond stunned to hear this news and still can't believe that it really happened.
Our entire family became patients of Rick's in 1996. He was recommended to us by one of my husband's co-workers. His co-worker said that Rick's motto was, "We cater to chickens!" That was all I needed to hear, I was sold.
My 1st appointment was different than anything I had ever experienced at a dental appointment before. He brought me in and we sat in his office and discussed how I felt about dentistry. He wanted to how I felt about having dental procedures done and wanted to get to know me. No doctor or dentist had ever done that before. He genuinely cared for his patients. We were not just another number to him.
Him, and his entire staff, literally became like family to us. At every appointment he was always in a good mood. I wasn't sure how he pulled that off. lol We would talk about our children, things that were going on in our lives, or anything else. All of the ladies in the office became like family also. I loved that his practice was small and he managed to not only have the nicest but the most competent staff around. That is such a rare combination these days. I will always remember how kind he was during any procedure. He made it a lot more pleasant, which for me, was not an easy task.
Katie, Laura, and Ted words cannot express how very sorry we are. Your dad was an extraordinary man.
He was so, so very proud of ALL of you. He talked about you at every appointment and when his grandchildren came along he was so happy and so in love with them. He enjoyed every minute of being a grandpa.
Terry, we can't even begin to imagine what you are going through right now. He was a great man whom I know you shared a lot of wonderful memories.
Our hearts ache for your entire family. We will never forget Rick's kindness and generosity.
On behalf of the Mikola Family we want to offer our deepest condolences on Rick's untimely passing. To say he was a larger than life character would be an understatement. The sound of his laugh will stay with all of us, always.

I was in industrial accident in 1988. Dr Alexander a plastic surgeon fixed my face and sent me next door to Dr. Terhune to basically rebuild my teeth. What an amazing man he was. He became my family dentist. It always seem more like visiting a friend than going to the dentist. I will miss him and his staff. Always interested in my family and how they were. Always talked about his beloved Buckeyes. RIP DOC I will always remember you.

The Shipley family had a long and wonderful friendship with the Terhunes. We love the family deeply. It is with great sorrow we have learned Rick has passed....way too soon. We first met Doc as an emergency. He was the most kind and gentle man. He became our family dentist and our friend. Marty and him could spend so much time talking about fishing, sharing recipes and jokes. I'm not sure who could tell more. My children as well as my grandchildren were all patients of his. I would recommend him to everyone as the gentle dentist. I had recommend a co-worker one time and Doc came by my house and dropped of a tin of chocolate popcorn as a Thank You. I asked him if he was looking for more work (from me) and he just chuckled. We will miss him. Our hearts go out to his staff, who are as caring as he was. May he rest in peace.

Dr. Rick a GREAT man. We are saddened at earths loss of a man who daily lived the Golden rule. He treated others as one would want to be treated. Not many people can say the love going to the dentist, but I indeed did say that more than once! Dr Rick always had a great story to share or a trivia question to keep me distracted during dental procedures. He always asked about my family and LISTENED. He even took care of my mom in a nursing home, bringing Sue to assist. They did this after hours. He shared himself. He was civic minded, volunteered and gave back to the community in a variety of ways. He had amazing skills. He knew relationships are what matter in life and he spent his life building, maintaining, cherishing and valuing relationships. To all of Docs staff, David and I give you our heartfelt appreciation for decades of incredible service
and friendship. We offer you our condolences. You all were an amazing team. Our hearts ache, our tears fall and our spirirs are sad but we give thanks for the life of Dr. Rick Terhune....RIP Doc. We love you.
