Robert SIRK Obituary

News Death Notice

SIRK, Robert Melvin (Bob) Bob Sirk, son of Charles Melvin and Ellen Jean Hunter Sirk, passed away on January 11, 2014 at Fort Hamilton hospital at the age of 67. Bob was a life-long Hamilton resident, with the exception of time spent living in California, Hawaii and Alaska. Bob graduated from Miami University, where he was a business major and a proud member of the DKE fraternity, and he continued to volunteer with his fraternity throughout his life. Bob enjoyed a long career in local real estate with Sirk Realty, and was an active member of Hamilton's Rotary Club. Bob received culinary arts training in the 1970s, and he cooked professionally before going into real estate, including for the Bodega Bay Resort in California, for workers on the Alaskan pipeline and Fort Hamilton Hospital when he moved his family back to Hamilton. Cooking remained one of his favorite hobbies, as friends and family members benefitted from Bob's passion for cooking and sharing throughout the years. Bob was preceded in death by his father Charles Melvin Sirk and his mother Ellen Jean Sirk. Bob is survived by his two daughters, Gretchen Sirk Crawford and Ellie Kristine Sirk, and two grandchildren Elle Sirk Crawford and Bear Cook, as well as his sister Marcia Chrupka. A service will be held in remembrance of Bob Sirk at Front Street Presbyterian Church on Saturday January 18th at 11am.

He was a valued alumnus of Kappa DKE. He was always there for homecoming. He could be counted on to help out the fraternity housing corporation as a member and volunteer. I would like to have one more homecoming with him. As a DKE from another generation he helped me to form a link to our past and taught me much. The stories of Kappa DKE antics will be remembered. He will be missed.

May God give solace to those he left behind on his journey to Heaven. Bob was a sweet, gentle soul, and I am sure he is wearing his Angel wings as I write this.

I did not have the privilege of knowing him personally, but I know his sister rather well. Bob is loved and supported by one of the most caring giving, spiritual persons ever. Vicki G.
