Thomas SCHROEDER Obituary

News Death Notice

SCHROEDER, Thomas David Age 80, passed away April 3, 2013. He was born January 3, 1933 to Charles and Mary (Long) Schroeder in Hamilton, Ohio. He was a 1951 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. He was enlisted in the US Navy as a Seabee from 1952 to 1954. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he worked construction in Florida before coming back to Hamilton. He worked for the David L. Smith Company and then Shook Construction from which he retired. He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Jean Kolibob, in Hollywood, Florida on November 5, 1955 and they were very happily married for 56 years. As long as he was with Doris he was a happy and content man. Once he retired they enjoyed many winters in Florida and the rest of the year surrounded by their kids and grandkids. Tom loved to listen to the Cincinnati Reds on his back porch in the evenings and watch the Bengals in the winter. He was a wonderful husband as well as a loving father; many times he could be found discussing construction with his sons or enjoying time with his daughter. For years, he prepared family dinner on Sundays that the whole family enjoyed immensely and from which many happy memories were made. He was a person with an easy laugh and lots of stories to tell about his younger days. He is survived by son Charles (Barbara) od Somerville, Daughter Dee of Hamilton, Son Tom (Di) of Seven Mile, and son John (Camilla) of Louisville, Ky; nine grandchildren: Michael (Codi), Steven (fiancee Kylie), Matt (Kaitlyn), Stephanie, Tommy (Kelly), Katie, Chelsea, Anna, and Jeff; great grandchildren Colton, Thomas, Claire, and Brody. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn, sister-in-law MaryAnn. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, sister Betty, and brother Don. Visitation will be held 6-8pm, Sunday, April 7 at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 NW Washington Blvd, Hamilton. A short service at the funeral home will be held on Monday, April 8 at 10am followed by burial at Collinsville Cemetery. Online condolences are available at www.weigelfuneralhome.com
