June Corbin Barrett peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 94. She was born on Tuesday, June 10, 1931, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, to the late Mary Eva Lindell and the late Clifton Burgess Corbin.
June was a special person who brought joy to everyone she met. Her smile was infectious, and she had a way of making people feel welcomed and cared for. No matter where she went, June's kindness and warmth made people love her, and she always returned that love. She had a natural ability to make others feel comfortable and valued. June will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In 1950, June graduated from the Mather School of Nursing and spent 72 years as a Registered Nurse. For 43 of those years, she worked as a surgical nurse at Baton Rouge General and then, with the honor of helping to open and organize it by its founders, Woman's Hospital. For 10 years, she was a nurse at the Southeastern Louisiana University Infirmary. Her long career touched so many lives, and she was loved and respected by all who worked with her and were cared for by her. June loved traveling in the US and the world. She traveled with family and friends at any opportunity she had.
June is survived by her daughter, Kim Justice (Harold "Buddy"); grandchildren, Tiffany Barrett Nester, Emily Marie Barrett, Evan Michael Ellis Barrett, and Kevin Roane Justice; four great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kari Barrett; nephew, Jerry C. Blanchard (Cindy), and many other loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lionel Ellis Barrett; son, Keith Ellis Barrett; sister, Leila Corbin Walker; aunt, Gloria "Tib" Durbin; infant sister, Bobbie Dee Corbin; nephew, Robert (Bobby) Blanchard, Sr., and other very special relatives.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Hammond and Ponchatoula.

I visited Ms. junes mother as a small child with my grandmother Edith Brown many times then I visited Ms. June in later years with my mother Gloria Parent ( Brown ) . She was always just the sweetest lady. My condolences to her family and friends. May she Rest in peace.
