Marian Baughman Brown, 82, a longtime resident of Yazoo City, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home in Kiln, MS, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Born on May 3, 1943, in Greenville, MS, Marian was a native of Drew, MS. She graduated from Drew High School in 1961. She attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), where she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority. It was at Ole Miss that she met the love of her life, Jerry Glynn Brown. They shared 57 years of marriage and raised their family in Yazoo City, where Marian resided for over 60 years. Marian dedicated her career to education and her community, serving as an Assistant Librarian at Yazoo City High School and a Teacher Assistant within the Yazoo City Public School System. She also previously worked at the Bank of Yazoo. While she had many professional achievements, she always maintained that her greatest achievement in life was her family. Known for her adventurous spirit, Marian loved traveling, shopping, and exploring new restaurants. She found peace in tending to her garden and cherished every moment spent with her family and friends. Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Glynn Brown; her parents, Odie Mims Baughman and Lucille Cataldi Baughman; and her grandson, Skyler Burnley. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Martin (Tim) of Hammond, LA, and Stacy Humble of Pontotoc, MS; her siblings, Sandy Wilson (Gerald) of Germantown, TN, Leslie Baughman of Plano, TX, Pete Baughman (Scarlet) of Eupora, MS, and Johnny Baughman (Georgia) of Drew, MS. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Taylor Martin (Ponchatoula, LA), Sundy Shiyou (James) (Bay St. Louis, MS), Christian Martin (Ponchatoula), Madison Riley (Welton) (Mooreville, MS), and Shelby Burnley (Denise) (Pontotoc). She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Reagan Burnley, Tatum, Hallie, and Brayden Riley, as well as multiple nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice, especially her nurse, Tabatha, for the exceptional and blessed care provided during the final chapter of her life. A celebration of love will be held at a later date to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Palmer Home for Children at palmerhome.org. or Krewe Da Cha Chas, P.O. Box 2156, Hammond, LA 70404, which provides support to individuals and their families who are affected by a breast cancer diagnosis.
