Mr. Paul Winston Thompson, Jr., age 50, of Traphill passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital.

Paul was born October 22, 1970 in Amite, LA to Paul and Nell Addison Thompson, Sr.

Paul was a United States Navy veteran and employed in the WEO Department at PVH.

To my loving husband Paul, thank you for who you are, your sweet, humble spirit and your loving heart. I've been so blessed to have been loved by you. I love you always, Reesa

"UNBREAKABLE"

As I sit in darkness, my husband is there, caressing my heart, through burdens I bear. Through doubtful words, my tears and fears, my husband speaks words, of a future so clear. I get up again, as he speaks words of light, daring to hope, for a future that's bright. Rising in hope of all I might see, planting new life, together with glee. Looking around at life's budding trees, Knowing within, they are like me. Deeply rooted, in a foundation that's strong, unwilling to break, in a storm that's been long. So with hands lifted high, I bend without breaking letting all things fall, that are not of God's making. Like a strong tree, that's tossed in a storm, the dead is removed and new life is born. Deeply planted by rivers and streams, my roots are watered, my sins are washed clean. Purged by God's Word that's in my heart, forgetting the past while embracing a new start. Reesa told me on Sept. 30th that "Paul quit breathing this morning" I assumed they had revived him, because she didn't say that they hadn't. So I was shocked when she sent me his obituary on Oct. 7th to see that he was gone a week already.
That week I had spent praying that Paul would be made whole, not knowing he already had been.
I prayed that he would get to go home, not knowing he was home already.

Paul was the sweetest, kindest, gentlest man, and honest as the days are long. He loved & trusted the Lord with all his heart and soul.
Him and Reesa trusted that God had sent them their perfect match when they met, and boy was they right. I'm so very thankful for the years that they had, and the opportunity to experience love, and to be loved the way God intended for a husband & wife. They both needed that. They served & honored each other until death did them part.
I am thankful for the opportunity to call them both dear friends.
My heart breaks, and rejoices at the same time, it's an odd combination to say the least, but if you are a christian... you understand.
Paul's heart was to reach the lost with the gospel & to help in anyway possible people in need.
He will be missed by all that knew him, and the gentle peaceful spirit that was of God touched all that his path crossed.
We love you Paul, you ran your race well, and now you are at the feet of our Lord worshiping.... were we long to join you.
Until then we move forward to our finish line.

We love you Reesa, and will continue to lift you in prayer

Paul loved his church. He and his dear wife could frequently be found anointing the pews with oil and praying for the congregation at Central Full Gospel Church in State Road, NC. He will be missed.
