Duarte Silva Brasil Obituary
Duarte was born on May 17, 1962 in the Azores on the island of São Jorge to João and Maria Conceicao Brasil. He was the baby of five brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Angie Brasil; his beloved children, Constance, Patrick, and Catherine Brasil, all of Hanford; his parents, João and Maria Conceicao Brasil of Visalia; his brothers, Jose and wife Loretti Brasil of Vallejo, Antonio and wife Rosalia Brasil of Hanford, Angelo and wife Mary Brasil of Lemoore and Eduino and wife Lilliana Brasil of Visalia; his sisters, Maria Adosinda and husband Francisco Tavares of São Jorge, Azores, Maria Goretti and godfather Manuel Avila of Tulare, Dacia and husband Manuel Dutra of Hanford; his in-laws, Jose and Maria Simoes of Hanford; sister-in-law, Arlinda and husband Russell Lessig of Vallejo; his godchildren, Tony Avila of Tulare, Veronica Brasil of Pismo Beach, Isabel Dutra of San Diego, Zachary Lessig of Vallejo, Dustin Anacleto of Hanford and Luis Avila of Hanford; also 58 nieces and nephews that he adored from the oldest to the youngest and who adored their "Ti Duarte." He was preceded in death by a sister, Manuela Brasil.
He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Hanford Fraternal Hall. Duarte was also a member of the ABCD Bikers Club. A club jokingly created by him, his family and friends. Big Bird was their mascot.
Duarte was a "Jack of all Trades." He could do anything and everything he put his mind to. Whether he was being just a silly kid or the grandpa with a cigar. He was known as the best mechanic around!
He will be deeply missed by all. Life will never be the same without him. He was the heart and soul of the family.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hanford. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Graveside service will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Hanford.
Arrangements are under the direction of Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Services Chapel in Hanford.
