JASON SEQUEIRA Obituary
JASON JACK SEQUEIRA
May 21, 1969 – October 23, 2025
Jason Jack Sequeira was called to Heaven at the age of 56 on October 23, 2025, by God 's grace in Hanford, California, surrounded by family and friends. The son of Kathleen and Joe Sequeira, Jason was a lifelong resident of Hanford and one of four siblings raised on the family farm he loved, protected, and cherished.
Jason attended Pioneer Elementary and graduated from Hanford High School in 1987. He later studied law enforcement at College of the Sequoias. Jason fiercely loved his pets and was unconditionally loyal to his family and friends.
All would agree that Jason was the kind of person you'd hear long before you'd see. He had a sort of hybrid "indoor/outdoor" voice. He didn't make himself small, ever, for anyone. His larger than life personality couldn't help but bring a smile to many faces. A great big laugh and kind face was usually followed in tow by one of his German shepherds or dachshunds.
In his younger years, Jason was known as the life of the party. The stories of his youth are as colorful as his personality. There were cool cars, tons of friends, 80's hair, house parties, and memories that grew into epic stories. He truly lived each day to the fullest. Often saying, "it's better to burn out than fade away!" Ultimately, he found his peace and purpose around the family farm and in his beloved garden.
As a son, brother, cousin and uncle, Jason was full of tough love - both figuratively and physically. Over the years, head locks, bear hugs, and karate chops were his sign of affection. An accomplished wrestler in high school, Jason thought testing his strength on his family was valid entertainment. But being the good guy that he was, his love was also soft and sometimes sappy. Always the tough guy, but he'd melt around his nieces and nephew. Their "Uncle Chonies" was one in a million. If he was wearing one, he'd give the shirt off his back to help those he cared for.
Never interested in the judgement of others, Jason was authentically himself. He lived out loud and bold. Jason loved the family farm and knew every square inch of the property where he worked along side his father for several years. He will be missed around the ranch and by all who loved him.
Jason is survived by his loyal pet companions and his sisters Beth Sells (husband Colton) and Katherine Santuangco (husband Jovi), nieces Audra and Shelby Sells, nephew Cole Sells, aunts, uncles, as well as many cousins. Jason is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Kathy Sequeira, and his brother Mathew.
Please join the family for a graveside memorial service at Calvary Cemetery in Hanford on Tuesday, November 4th beginning at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, a private reception for family and friends will be held at the Rice Bowl restaurant, 488 E 6th St., Hanford. All who knew and loved Jason are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jason's memory may be made to Type 1 Diabetes or Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease research, or any local animal shelter in need of assistance.
