LA PORTE, Ind. - Helen Ruth Alexander-Breaux, 79, of La Porte, IN, passed away peacefully at 9:46 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Munster Community Hospital, Munster, IN.
She was born February 8, 1943, in Chicago, IL, to Norman and Fannie (Cosby) Bourgeois.
Helen loved to cook. Her specialty was barbecue and rum cakes. Helen also enjoyed fishing, dancing, watching sports and spending time with her grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
On June 10, 1972, she married Robert Alexander, Sr., who preceded her in death.
Also preceding in death were her parents; husband, Earl Breaux; two brothers, Cecil Bourgeois and Jerry Butler; four sisters, Maxine, June, and Doris Butler, and Barbara Bourgeois.
Surviving are her three sons, Robert Alexander Jr. of Benton Harbor, MI, Norman Alexander of St. Joseph, MI, and Jason (Cory) Alexander of Three Oaks, MI; five daughters-in-love, Jennifer Little, Marcy Gear, Sarah Alexander, Racheal Turner and Melissa Meyers; eleven grandchildren, Robert Alexander III, Samantha Alexander, Brittany Alexander, Stephanie Alexander, Nic Leary, C.J. Alexander, Jalen (Dasha) Alexander, Breanna (Tavion) Mitchem, Devin Alexander, Desmond Alexander, and Niya Alexander; eleven great-grandchildren; two more on the way; and countless others who referred to her as, Grandma Helen.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Real Life Community Church, 12 E. Michigan St., Three Oaks, MI, with a luncheon to follow. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, La Porte, IN (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
