Delvin Wayne Ramsey, age 71 of Harrison, passed away on Saturday, April 17 (2021).
The son of Orvel Delvin and Mary Elizabeth (Bollinger) Ramsey was born on March 10, 1950, in Manilla, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Connie Marie (Sieg) Ramsey; and his son, Jeremy David Ramsey.
Del was a firearms and machine design developer. He spent his life working on his inventions, one of them being the sabot. Del's sabot revolutionized muzzle load firearms by bringing their ballistic efficiency into the modern era and allowed muzzle loaders to compete for the first time with more modern firearms. Del loved many things in life including; fishing, hunting, nature, antique cars and especially his grandkids and family. Del also loved racing and often competed throughout his life. In the last year, Del introduced his grandson Jaxon into racing go-karts, where the two were inseparable.
Delvin is survived by his son, Jason Ramsey and wife Arin; his daughter-in-law, Yolande Watson and husband Ryan; his sister, Brinda Drewry and husband Ben; seven grandchildren, Ashley Butler, Kaitlyn Willis and husband Waylon, Alexa Ramsey, Jaxon Ramsey, Xander Watson, Remington Watson and JR Watson; his great-grandchild, Chance Butler; and a host of other family members and friends throughout the firearm community and well beyond.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at Buck Ridge Barn, located at 716 Smokehouse Loop in Harrison. Immediately after the service there will be a gathering of friends and family to share stories.
