Gene Parsley Obituary

Service: 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Lead Hill First Baptist Church, with burial at Enon Cemetery; Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Lead Hill First Baptist Church.

Hubert Eugene "Gene"  Parsley, of Lead Hill, died Sunday, July 29 (2012) at Skaggs Medical Center in Branson. He was 88 years old.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Lead Hill First Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, also at the church. The Rev. Glenn Crenshaw will officiate. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. Pallbearers are the members of the Lead Hill VFW.  

The son of T.A. and Dovie (Green) Parsley was born on Sept. 2, 1923, at Lead Hill. Gene was a veteran serving in the Army Medical Corps European Theatre for 4 years during World War II.

He had worked as the general manager for the Holiday Inn in Oxford, Miss. for 35 years before returning to Lead Hill. Gene also served as mayor of Lead Hill for 12 years.

Gene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lead Hill and belonged to the VFW and American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers and sisters, Adam, Alice, Roy, Clayton, Frank, Lewis and Alta.

Survivors include a sister, Ruby Beck, of Mt. Vernon; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lewis (Millie) Parsley; nephews, Larry Parsley, Jerry Parsley and Bobby Parsley, all of Lead Hill; other nieces and nephews; and friend and caregiver, Terry "T.J." Break.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Enon Cemetery Care Fund c/o Woodrow Gaines, P.O. Box 174, Lead Hill, AR 72644.
