Patsy Rose Obituary

Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Holt Memorial Chapel, with internment at Patton Cemetery in Pyatt; Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Holt Memorial Chapel.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3 (2017) Patsy Cloe Rose passed from this life into the next as she entered the gates of Glory. She was surrounded by family and her loving husband, Bill, as she drew her final breath. Patsy was attentively cared for at Hospice of the Hills in her final hours. She was 80 years old.

Patsy was born in Pryor, Oklahoma, in 1936. She moved to Bruno, when she was just 6 years old. She lived on a farm with her family, where she was one of six children. She attended school at Bruno, and there she met her sweetheart, Billy James Rose, when she was still in high school. Patsy and Bill married in 1952 in Harrison.

Following the birth of their first son, Doug, Bill and Patsy moved to Pueblo, Colorado. Within the next few years, son JJ and daughter Nita were born. Patsy and Bill were active members of the local Christian church, where Patsy used her musical talent to lead the church choir. She and Bill were also youth leaders.

After living in Pueblo for 14 years, Bill and Patsy decided to return home to Arkansas. Patsy always had a heart for children. She and Bill opened a Christian daycare center in Pyatt, which they operated for many years. Patsy later decided to transition into the school system and became a Head Start teacher and later director, fulfilling her passion for learning and teaching children. Though she never graduated high school, at the age of 65, Patsy went back and got her GED, graduating at the same time as her granddaughter Sarah Maria.

Patsy's passion for learning was also reflected in her love of writing. Patsy could write in a variety of genres, but poetry and children's literature were her favorites. She dreamed of one day publishing a children's book. Patsy enjoyed composing worshipful poems and letters of praise to the Lord.

Patsy had a deep and abiding faith in God. She exemplified Christ in her compassionate and caring disposition. Many a lost young soul found refuge in the Rose home. Patsy was a faithful member of Crossroads Community Church of Harrison, and was actively involved in the beeper prayer ministry. Despite years of battling congestive heart failure and advanced kidney failure, Patsy maintained a cheerful attitude. She loved Jesus Christ and trusted Him to carry her through the storms of life.

Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Patrick Henry and Nevil (Pyle) Herrington; brothers, Jack, Jim and Hank Herrington; sister, Della McBee; and granddaughter, Sarah Maria Rose.

She is survived by husband, Billy James Rose; sister, Billie Nanney; sons Doug and JJ Rose and his wife, Brenda; and daughter, Nita Atkinson and her husband, Steve; grandchildren Christine Rose and her husband, Alan; Micheal Atkinson and his wife, Katy, Aidan Rose, Michael and Passion Rose; and great-grandsons Cory Rose and his wife, Breezy, Shelton Rose and his fiancée, Bethany, and Marcus Atkinson.

Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Holt Memorial Chapel.

Funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Holt Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Strobel officiating. Internment is at Patton Cemetery in Pyatt.

Pallbearers will be Micheal Atkinson, Alan Rose, Cory Rose, Aidan Rose, Shelton Rose, and Michael Rose. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Atkinson, Kimberly Phillips, Sue and Dale Copeland, the Harrison Fire Department, NARMC EMS, Dr. Kevin Jackson and staff, Dr. John Sorg and NARMC staff, Hospice of the Hills and staff, Patsy's Shorecrest neighbors, Jackie Sue Herrington, and Bobby Richardson.

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
