GIL, Adam Adam Gil, 86, loving husband for 59 years of Eugenia (Hacioglu) Gil entered into heaven peacefully on Tuesday, (October 31, 2006), surrounded by his wife, loving son and friends. He came to New Britain from Pennsylvania 56 years ago; New Britain was his adopted town. Adam was an avid saltwater fisherman and a very skilled wood worker, a hobby that gave him great pleasure. Adam retired from Fafnir Bearing Company after 33 years of service. Adam was a UAW member and served on the house committee. He served in the U.S. Army as an occupation military policeman and later in U.S. Air Force. Adam was a member of Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. He was a member of the Senior Center, past member of the Pulaski Club and a devoted Democrat. In addition to his loving wife Eugenia, Adam is survived by his son, John Gil and his wife, Pauline of Avon; his daughter, Jeanette Girard and her husband, Dennis of Salem; his grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Girard and Ashley Gil who was born after Adam lost his eyesight, he never had the chance to see her. Adam was predeceased by two brothers and a sister in Poland and his brother in England. Adam's funeral services will be held Saturday, 8:30 a.m. from the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday 4 - 7 p.m. at Burritt Hill. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a dear friend. I always loved Adam's sense of humor and recounts of his life's experiences, and we will miss him.
As Robert Burns said "If there is another world, he lives in bliss. If there is none, he made the best of this. With all our love.

It saddens me that Adam will not be around anymore. He always made me laugh with his funny jokes. He will be sorely missed he was a good neighbor and a kind and loving friend.
