Allan H. Nyman

1926 - 2019

On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, Allan H. Nyman, 92, was called to eternal life surrounded by the love of his family at the Jerome Home in New Britain. Born on October 19, 1926, he was the son of the late Ernest H. Nyman and Hannah J. (Hanson) Nyman. He served our country with pride during WWII in the United States Navy and received his associate's degree from the Porter School of Architecture. Prior to retirement, he worked many years with Viking Bakery and then Electroterm as a part of their sales teams. Fenway Park has lost one of their greatest fans as he loved the Red Sox and also UCONN Women's Basketball. Additionally, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed clamming.Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Dorothy C. Nyman in 1999, and a sister Ruby Anderson. Left to honor and cherish his memory are his sons, Kurt Nyman and his wife Anne of Glastonbury, Craig Nyman and his wife Susan of Surry, ME, 7 grandchildren, Kerrie, Evan, Betsy, Lisa, Erica, Sarah, & Jill and 7 great grandchildren. His life and funeral will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23, at 10:00 AM, meeting directly at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1655 Main St, Newington, CT 06111 with committal services and military honors following at West Meadow Cemetery Chapel. Relatives and friends are welcome to call for visitation on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave, Newington. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
