One of my new colleagues in San
Francisco is Georgette Huie. She was a Christian Education Minister in several churches in Connecticut over the past twenty
years. I asked her if she had known my friend Allen Tinkham.
She said of course! It was so nice to have this connection. He touched so many lives with his love and kindness.

Dear Cynthia and family, Rev. Tinkham married us in 1967 while he was pastor of Niantic Community Church, and we still remind each other often of what a wonderful person and friend and pastor he was. We will never forget how touched we were that next year when he was willing to wait until we got home from Paul's graduate school class in Bridgeport, at 9:00 at night, to come and chat with us about how we were doing. We felt so special knowing that he thought we were worth that much of his time, and that he truly cared about being a part of our life together. His gentle manner, his wonderful smile, his great sense of humor, his immediate and open acceptance of everyone as they were, his deeply caring nature, and his genuine love and commitment to his faith and to the shepherding of his flock (which was everyone he ever met) endeared him to us immediately and will always remain as a warm hug in our hearts. Thank you for sharing him with us. We want you to know that we love him and will hold him close in our memories of him, just as we are holding each of you close in our heart and in our prayers. May God's Peace rest within you; may your joy and gratitude fill you to overflowing as you reflect on your memories of the ways Allen loved you and influenced your life; may his gentle ways and deep faith wrap you in strength and courage now and in the days to come.

I was sorry to learn recently of Allen Tinkhams death. As a graduating Yale Divinity School graduate, UCC In-Care Seminarian, and a candidate for ordination, I shall never forget (and indeed remember as if yesterday) meeting with Allen for my final profile review and counseling session in the spring of 1976 in his CT Conference office as I prepared for my first parish. His sincerity, love of parish ministry, commitment to the Christian faith, and enjoyment of students are signature hallmarks of a dedicated life and service. To his entire family in its generational iterations I offer my sincerest sympathies in your grief from a great loss to all of you and so many whose lives he so selflessly touched. May God lift you lovingly to the promise of peace and new life.

Dear Cynthia and Family,
I want to thank you all for sharing Allen with us for so many years. He was my Mentor and friend for over fifty years. Even lately when we haven't been it touch I would
remember his advice and inspiration. He
placed me as a Summer Intern at New Fairfield Congregational Church during the summer of 1972. That experience was so helpful to my parish career. Louise and I enjoyed our lunches with you and Allen
over all the years. His guidance and love touched the lives of so many ministers
and churches. I will miss him dearly and I will feel his presence often in the future.
Love and Blessings,
Curt

Rev. Tinkham was my pastor at the Niantic Community Church during my formative years in the 1960s. His counselling, patience, and wisdom helped me survive some difficult teen challenges. He developed a fabulous Youth Group which traveled to various colleges, Washington, DC, and widened our horizons. Many of that youth group are still good friends. My sincere sympathy to his wife and family.
