Alma SIMPSON

SIMPSON, Alma (Russell) Alma (Russell) Simpson, 92, of Bloomfield, formerly of South Windsor and Hartford, beloved wife of Ralph E. Simpson, died peacefully on Wednesday (November 17, 2010) at Alexandria Manor, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 1, 1918 in Hampton, VA, daughter of the late James and Chaney (Coombs) Russell. Alma grew up in Hampton, VA and was a graduate of Phoenix High School with the Class of 1936. She worked as a nurses aid for many years at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Hartford and then at the Burnside Nursing Home in East Hartford. Alma was a quiet woman who enjoyed her grandchildren and family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. Besides her husband Ralph of 65 years, she leaves her devoted son, Aaron West and his wife Lisa of Bloomfield, two loving grandsons, Aaron West Jr. and Anthony West both of Bel Air, CA, two step-daughters, Barbara Duncan of East Hartford and Barbara Lowe of Clermont, FL, a nephew Rene W. Russell of Hampton, VA, her sister-in-law, Florence Nicholas of Windsor and several other nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday (December 1, 2010) 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor.
