GUERARD, Anna Augusta (Joanis)

Anna Augusta (Joanis) Guerard, 98, of West Hartford, formerly of Hartford, died Friday, (February 22, 2013) at Hartford Hospital. She was the widow of Leo G. Guerard. Born in Orleans, Ontario, Canada, one of ten children of the late John and Mary Ann (Shea) Joanis, she moved with her family to Hartford in 1923. Anna attended Hartford High School and worked at Steiger's and Pratt & Whitney during the war. She and Leo married in 1947 and raised their family in Hartford. Anna loved to cook and take care of her family. She was predeceased by Leo in 1994 and eight of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three children, Linda Guerard, Gail Kenyon and her husband Doug, and Leo Guerard all of West Hartford; two granddaughters, Joanna Pantages and her husband Jason, and Kristin Churila of West Hartford; her great-grandson, Ryan Pantages; her sister, Ethel Aubin of Coventry; her sister-in-law, Alma LaBrecque of Bloomfield; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge caregivers Loren Wisneski, Ada Burgos, Diane Calder as well as the staff at Hartford Hospital for the excellent care they provided.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Church of Saint Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Calling hours will be Monday, 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
