Anthony TOMKIEL Obituary
TOMKIEL, Anthony T.
Anthony T. Tomkiel, 87, of Windsor, beloved husband of the late Geraldine (Collins) Tomkiel, passed away on Thursday, (November 15, 2012). Born in Poland, he lived in Windsor for over 50 years. He was a member of Pipefitter's Union Local #676 for 60 years and served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of Gray-Dickinson Post # 59 American Legion and a life member of the Manchester Elks Club. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the McLean Home in Simsbury, Suffield House and Hartford Hospital. A special thank you to Rose Lightbody for her companionship and care while he lived at home for the past several years. He leaves two sons, Gerald Tomkiel and his wife Sylvia of Windsor, and John Tomkiel of Greensboro, NC; a granddaughter, Renate Tomkiel of Windsor; a brother William Tomkiel of Manchester; and was predeceased by a brother Edward Tomkiel.
The funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 19, at 9:15 a.m. from the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave., Poquonock section of Windsor followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Poquonock. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Poquonock. His family will receive friends at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home Sunday from 3-5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Ave., Windsor, CT 06095. Gerald and John: I just heard of your Dad's passing. Uncle Tony was a great man! Every Christmas we spent together up in Manchester in the early 1960's, your Dad was always so kind. As a young child, he always made sure we had enough cream soda. I have no doubt that Uncle Tony and Uncle Ed will be waiting for us in heaven. God bless both of you!
