Axel taught me business/technical german, just before I moved to Germany in 1996. He also gave me lots of hints about the area I moved to, as he was quite familiar with Neuss and Duesseldorf. He sent my husband and I over with an answering machine, which he asked that we pass onto his nephew. He even managed a visit with us in Germany while vacationing with a lady friend. We've remained in contact ever since meeting at the Inlingua school. He was a terrific guy. He often spoke about "his great kids and how proud he was of them". My sympathies go out to the whole family for your loss.

My deepest sympathy to you, Stefanie, Nicholas & Katherine. Although I only knew Axel for a short time when I started working at Coldwell Banker last year, he always had a pleasant smile on his face and a cheery hello. I enjoyed talking with him about his trips because I, too, am a traveler. Axel showed a remarkable strength towards his disease and always stayed positive. I admire and respect his outlook on life and will remember him fondly.

I have known Axel since 49 years and although we didn't see each other very often he was still a good old friend whom I will never forget. My thoughts go his children who I hope will have the strength to overcome this tragic end of a full life.

Dear Stefanie & Nico,
Your Dad was one of the truest friends I have ever had. I will always miss him and love him. His love of life was infectious. Knowing him has made me a much better person. He was so proud of both of you. I am dedicating the rest of my life to working to find a cure for ALS.

Axel put forth such a strong fight against this horrible disease. My deepest sympathy to Stefani, Nicholas, and Katherine. It was a pleasure to have been his manager in South Windsor for 3 years. Thanks so much for joining your dad and Axel's work family on the Project ALS walk last year that our company sponsored in New York. A terrific Realtor, his clients always knew that he would guide them in the right direction. As for his colleagues in the South Windsor office, I know they will miss his 100-mile an hour drives on Tuesday tour. For those who knew him, I am sure he is heaven telling the top guy how to run the place - I just hope the top guy drives a BMW! I will miss him.
