Barbara A. Memmott

MEMMOTT, Barbara A. Barbara A. Memmott, born September 9, 1912, passed away at the age of 96 at the Salmon Brook Center in Glastonbury on August 6, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard W. Memmott, in 1956. Barbara was born in Cranston, RI. She graduated from Cranston High School and received her undergraduate degree from Brown University's Pembrook College. She retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft after working as a research librarian and was an active member of the Congregational Church in South Glastonbury. Barbara is survived by her son, Alan Memmott and his wife Marcia; daughter, Judy Jansson and daughter, Janet Totin and her husband Thomas. She is also survived by four grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and his wife Gina, Pamela and her husband Brett, Dana and her husband William, and Jonathan and his wife Leta; five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Benjamin, Jackson, Mia and Anthony; and sister-in-law, Louise Anthony. She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia; her brother, James, and her son-in-law, Robert. There will not be any calling hours. A private burial will be held for members of the immediate family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, at The Congregational Church in South Glastonbury, 16 High Street, South Glastonbury, CT. A reception will follow at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 915 Main Street, South Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Brain Tumor Institute, care of Tracy Church, Children's National Medical Center, 111 Michigan Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20010 or The Epilepsy Foundation, 8301 Professional Place, Landover, MD 20785. The Glastonbury Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
