On Thursday February 2nd, 2023, Bruce Nicholas Dixon of
Harriman, Tennessee (formerly of
Torrington, Connecticut) a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away. He was 69 years old. Born to Russell and Barbara Dixon, he spent the days of his youth in
Hartford, Connecticut where he enjoyed and cherished the camaraderie of a tight group of friends whom he came to regard as family. Bruce was known for being a loyal friend. As a young man, and then throughout his entire life, Bruce would give a hand up or the shirt off his back to any person who needed it. The center of Bruce's world was his wife Julia, who he fell in love with at the young age of 18 and she 15. The depth of his devotion to her reached farther than all the great leagues of the ocean. She was his heart embodied, and he hers. Mankind has pondered the vast mystery of the thing called Love since the beginning of time, and our answer lies in observation of these two. Love means unconditional acceptance, Love means tolerance, Love means celebrating together and suffering together, and Love means staying. Bruce and Julia exemplified the magic that rarely exists and lasts between two people who faced a life of adversity, and in the process raised a family, and in many ways, one another. From fitting people for shoes at Regal Shoes on the corner of Asylum and Main in
Hartford, Connecticut in the early 1970s, to being the manager of the flagship store for Better Bedding in
Manchester, Connecticut, to his last position as sales associate at Knoxville Wholesale Furniture, Bruce enjoyed a successful and prominent lifelong career in sales. Bruce excelled at gaining confidence and making friendships with all walks of life, be it on the sales floor or while simply pumping gas. His gift to disarm you in an instant with his charisma and genuine warmth made anyone in his presence feel safe and uplifted. His jovial way was infectious. Bruce is survived by his wife Julia, daughters Rachel and Leah, son Phillip, daughter-in-law Andrea, granddaughters Lola, Ruby, Lily and Isadora, grandsons Dante and PJ and brother Michael Bond. In lieu of a service, the family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.
