Bruce Hannifin

Bruce Hannifin, 77, of West Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at his home with his wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maureen (Healey) Hannifin for 27 years. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hartford, son of the late John and Mae (Breton) Hannifin, Bruce left a powerful mark on all who knew him as a wonderful husband, father, brother and uncle. He will always be remembered as a kind, compassionate, thoughtful man. He was employed as a steamfitter for 32 years with local 218 and 777. He loved the outdoors, camping with his family, hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles, especially with his good friend Tom Gaboriault. He also loved playing pool, watching Packers games and traveling with his wife Maureen to Pennsylvania, the Caribbean and throughout the U.S. Bruce is survived by his wife Maureen Hannifin, his beloved son John Hannifin and his wife Cindy and their children Sierra and Abigail, a beloved daughter, Kathy Vandervort and her husband Mike and their two children, Cody and Alexis. He also leaves two sisters, June Bottaro of AZ, and Carol Pandisher of Enfield, three brothers, William Petrocelli and his wife Debbie, Bob Corn and his wife Jan, and John Corn and his wife Dawn, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, December 23rd, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
