Christine Griswold Obituary

Christine Griswold, 96, of Canton, widow of Ernest Griswold, passed away Friday, January 19th, 2018, in a very peaceful and graceful fashion. She spent 50 years of her life heavily involved in the Grange, rising to its highest levels. She adored singing in several choral groups, including the Mountain County Choristers from Winchester Grange No. 74. She was very involved with the development and history of the Burlington Senior Center and its many transitions throughout the decades. Along with the Canton Senior Citizens Center, she loved her Canton Community Baptist Church, its congregation and especially Pastor Amy. She will be truly missed by all who she touched. May she rest in peace. Christine is survived by her stepdaughter, Brenda Bouchard; son, Joseph Breau and his wife Joyce; daughters, Betty Marsh, Jane Jones and her husband Fred; son, Mark Griswold and his wife Patti; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Griswold and her sisters, Cecilia "Tillie" LeClair, Louise Dingwell and Nora Raymond. She will be missed by her grandchildren: David Breau, Betsy Reeves, Jeffrey Breau, Cathy Breau, Linda Moody, Todd Bouchard, Gary Bouchard, Crystal Wishart, Amy Chase, Jimmy Kaczypenski, Sean Griswold, Michael, Andrew and Peter Fabrizio and Alicia Griswold. She also leaves behind many great-grandchildren, as well as several great-great-grandchildren, who fondly refer to her as "G.G." She was predeceased by her sons, Ernie Griswold and G. Daniel Griswold, and her siblings, Shirley Carrera, John Raymond, Charlie Raymond and Arlene St. Hilaire. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville, on Saturday (Jan. 27) from 2:00-5:00 pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be at 5:00 pm, followed by Funeral Services in Canton Community Baptist Church, 125 Dowd Ave., Canton at 5:30 pm. The cemetery burial service will be held at the convenience of the family. To the Family & Friends of Chris

THANK YOU for this woman. Thank you for sharing her spirit and generous love here at the Canton Senior Center. Chris has been an active Member here for years and she has been missed recently. I'll always remember her fondly- that twinkle in her eye and how her entire face would smile when she let out her infectious laughter.

Please let us know if there is anything you need.
