ORLACCHIO, Christine
Christine (Grant) Orlacchio, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, of Ormond Beach, Florida, died Wednesday (September 14, 2011). Mrs. Orlacchio was a resident of Ormond Beach, Florida and a former resident of Middletown, Connecticut. She was born on October 29, 1923 in Leeds, Maine, daughter of the late LeRoy Grant. She was predeceased by her first husband, Nicholas Boccuzzi and her second husband, Ernest (Mike) Orlacchio. She was also predeceased by her son Nicholas Boccuzzi and her brother Leroy Grant, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Carmella Kowalski and her husband John Kowalski of Durham, Connecticut; her daughter-in-law Nancy Boccuzzi of Flager Beach, Florida. She also leaves four grandchildren, April Leiler of Durham, Connecticut, Brenda Young Johnson of Deland, Florida, Daun Kowalski of Higganum Connecticut, and Nicholas and Boccuzzi of Port Orange, Florida. She also leaves eight great grandchildren, all of whom adored her making a big fuss over every little accomplishment they had. Before retiring to Florida, Mrs. Orlacchio and her husband, Mike, were restaurant/bar owners in Forestville, Connecticut. She was a gourmet cook of Italian cuisine and four generations of her family enjoyed traditional Sunday dinners at her table. She loved to sip on a glass of red wine and sit back with a smile - watching and listening to the chatter of fifteen or twenty of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids all speaking at the same time. Mrs. Orlacchio later returned to the work force as a companion and care giver for older ladies who were unable to do for themselves. She treasured each and every moment spent with those she loved and they did as well. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Peggy Gentry for her devotion and care in the final years of Christine's life.
The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
