Clarence Brown Obituary

Clarence G. "Bud" Brown Jr, 89, of Harwinton CT----"Damn the Torpedoes! Full Speed Ahead"--David Glasgow Farragut. On the eve of the Full Sturgeon Moon, America lost one of its finest. Clarence G. "Bud" Brown Jr, 89, born in Vermont , proudly served his country in WWII as a Navy Engineer at age 16. Assimilation of a donut, coffee, and a handshake, he continued on the path of determined, successful work outlined for him at a very young age on the childhood farm where he was raised, then fostered by his years in the service. Eventually he opened Manchester Carbide Company. A life long Free Mason, active in Manchester Rotary, and involved in many civic organizations, Bud touched many in his life. Together with his Judy, he could not have been happier to bring his 3 girls into the world. His last year was spent peacefully in a home that he designed, on land he cleared. C.G. Brown leaves his wife of 53 years, Judith, his bunkmate for life, oldest daughter Suzanne and husband Scott and children Lonyka, Dylan, and Hannah Brown; the Pallotto grandchildren, Reid, Dane, Paige, Brett and wife Jessy and their children Davian and Abby, youngest daughter Toby and husband Michael and children Benjamin, Samantha, and Shayla Schoeneberger. The devastating loss of his middle daughter Christine in 2009 left a void that has only now been filled. Our family will be forever grateful to the souls who entered our home and lives in caring for Pop, Kelly, Michelle, and Bob are the sort of people you would want surrounding you through this journey. Let them always feel our Brown family love. A Memorial Service will be held Monday Aug. 22 at Noon at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave Torrington. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital 51 Blossom ST Boston MA 02114. Online memorials http://www.phalenfuneral.com/

Dear Judy and family--- I am sorry to hear of your loss. I have fond memories of you and your family. It was always a joy to visit with Jean and her family at the beach with the added benefit of the reception of the Brown neighbors. I have missed the kidding and the fun watching the fun activities next door. With love,Toni DeNicolo Ellzey

Dear Judy, Suzanne (Suzanna banana), Toby and family, my sincere condolences for your loss. The love between Bud and Judy was ever present and was a role model for me as a teenager. It was always a joy for me to be a part of your family while babysitting the girls. He will be forever in my heart. Pam (Oakman) Cullors
