Clinton Lewis Obituary

Clinton Berisford Lewis, 89, entered into glory to be with his Savior on Saturday, (March 29, 2014). Berris as he was affectionately called was born to the late Alexander and Estella (Bloomfield) Lewis in St. James, Jamaica, W.I. Berris migrated to the U.S.A. in 1943. A true pioneer living in Illinois, Florida, Los Angeles, CA, he finally made his home in Hartford. He worked at Anderson Lab in Bloomfield and Pratt & Whitney, and he also ventured into construction for a short while. His last employment was with the City of Hartford, retiring in 1993. A very happy person, kind and generous, he loved helping others, always putting them first. He was very respectful of everyone and was always a gentleman, he never forgot to say thank you and please. After retirement, he loved spending time at the beaches in Jamaica. Berris accepted the Lord as his Savior in 1983 and enjoyed Bible study at home and at Crossroads Community Cathedral where he attended until his illness. Berris was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Astley; a sister, Carmen; a son, Paul; his former wife, Rosabell (Pie), and two brothers-in-law, Seymour and Babsy. He leaves a lasting memory to be cherished by his beloved wife, Yvonne; Berisford, Jr. "Chico" (Janice), Christopher (Elaine), and Anthony; three daughters, Michelle, Deborah, and Delores; two stepsons, Peter (Marilyn) and Michael (Aura); and a stepdaughter, Shelly (Jim); two brothers, Joe (Emma) and Herman (Beverly); six sisters, Merciline, Gloria, Roslyn, Christine, Shirley, and Velma; two sisters-in-law, Inez and Hermine; four brothers-in-law, Winston, Stanley (Elaine), Anthony (Akusoa), and Richard (Yvonne); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was loved by so many. All will miss his kind and gentle spirit. His family will receive friends on Saturday, April 5, 9-10 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 10 a.m., at Crossroads Community Cathedral, 1492 Silver Lane, East Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. For online condolences please visit, www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
