Constance Bigelow Obituary

Constance Bigelow (Beals), 91, formally of Winchester, NH passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023, in Rocky Hill, CT. Loving wife of the late Russell A. Bigelow, of 61 years, in 2014. Born in Keene, NH to the late Robert V. Beals & Dorothy Clark Beals Cram Smith on May 20, 1932. Graduated from Bellows Falls High School, VT in 1950. She retired from the Holstein in Brattleboro, VT after 20 years, and previously worked at the National Grange Mutual in Keene, NH. She loved Antiques, auctions & yard sales. Connie was a proud member of the DAR Ashuelot Chapter, Winchester & Keene, NH Historical Society. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Kirk Bigelow of Keene, NH, daughter Rebecca (David) Gulliver of Springdale, AR; daughter Pamela (David) LaPorte of Wethersfield, CT. Grandchildren Becky (Ryan) McConville, Coventry, CT; Amy (Kristian) Dermody, Las Vegas, NV; Rob (Rhonda) Gulliver, Fayetteville, AR & Erik Gulliver, Knoxville, TN. Great-grandchildren Colin & Chloe McConville & Emma & Grayson Dermody. She was predeceased by younger sister Ruth (Dave) Wells & brother Robert Beals, Jr.

Funeral services will be privately held in the Spring of 2024 at the South Parrish Cemetery in Winchester, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Connie's memory can be made to Trinity Health of NE Hospice 76 Batterson Park Rd. Farmington, CT 06032, or HCS Hospice Care 312 Marlborough St. Keene, NH 03431. Special thank you to the Nursing staff at American House in Keene, NH & the caring staff at The Atrium in Rocky Hill, CT.

As a young man (20) from Ohio the Bigelow's invited me to stay with the in their home in Winchester in 1992. Russ and I were bonded by our leather work, and my family and I spent many vacations with Connie, Russ and Chuckas! We got guided tours of the New England countryside, on the antique roads as Connie used to say. I was able to take them to the Brimfield flea market, auctions, sales, tool collector meetings and the list goes on. Connie was a great hist and had a wide feild of knowledge in antiques. She was an expert wax seal collector, her collection was impressive to say the least. Russ and Connie define hard working people and had the spirt to keep fighting. Connie always said Yankee ingenuity solved many problems, she definitely defined that. I would call them this week and make sure they were ready for Brimfield, Connie would tell me that she had been walking to the graveyard on Rt.119, picking up trash to get her legs ready!
I am humbled to have been their friend and grateful to have been able to spend time with them.
