Daniel Moriarty Obituary

Daniel F. Moriarty, Sr., 69, of Main St., Old Saybrook died Sunday (June 24, 2001) at Yale New Haven Hospital after a short illness. He was husband of the late Anne (Vachon) Moriarty and husband to Lianne (Fickinger) Moriarty. He was born in Holyoke, MA on October 28, 1931. He was son of the late Daniel and Annabelle (Donohue) Moriarty. He has lived in Old Saybrook for the past 30 years. He was president and owner of Moriarty Corp. He was a member of the Weskbrook Lodge of Elks, past member of the Connecticut Gateway Commission, past president of the Holyoke St. Patrick's Day Parade, past president of IRWC and a member of the ASTM Society. Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Daniel Moriarty, Jr. of Madison, Michael Moriarty of Madison, Timothy Moriarty of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Debra Moriarty Givanazzi of Baltimore, MD, Kathleen (Moriarty) O'Dell of Lancaster, PA; a brother, Joseph Moriarty of Bloomfield, NJ; a sister, Eleanor Moriarty of Davenport, NY; seven grandchildren; five step-children and six step-grandchildren. Funeral procession will leave The Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook Friday, June 29, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John's RC Church in Old Saybrook. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to American Lung Association of Connecticut, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, 06108. www.alact.org

Dan was a long time business associate that turned into a friendship that will never be replaced. He was the older brother I never had and will miss his advise and counsel.
