David Allen Obituary

David Pund Allen, 84, passed away October 3, 2021, at home in Simsbury, CT. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene (2020) and his older sister, Nancy (Allen) Logan (2019). He is survived by children William W. Allen (Jeffery), Peter C. G. Schultze-Allen (Andrea), Katherine P. Allen (Soumitra), Kimberly Springman (Andrew), and Steven A. Troop, and grandchildren Christopher & Benjamin Springman, Sophie & Dawn Schultze-Allen, and Jasmine Allen-Sengupta. Dave took great pride in their blended family and five grandchildren. Dave was born in Egypt, NY on January 16, 1937, to Dorothy Pund Allen and Warren W. Allen of Pittsford, NY. Dave attended Allendale School in Rochester, NY. After graduating from Colgate University with a Bachelor's degree in Geology, he attended Naval Officer Candidate School. He served as a Lieutenant on the USS Fairview based in New London, CT (1960-64). After finishing his tour of duty for the Navy, Dave worked for the Eastman Kodak Company. His first position was part of the team for the World's Fair in NYC (1964). He was a regional sales representative in CA, TN, and FL before moving to Simsbury, CT in 1972. He retired after 30 years but continued to work as an Ambassador for Kodak on various international trips, including Mexico, Costa Rica, and Alaska, together with Irene. He served as president of the Simsbury Rotary Club and as president of the Stratton Forest Condo Association. Anytime a neighbor needed help, Dave always volunteered his time and expertise. He worshipped at the Simsbury United Methodist Church where he met his wife-to-be, Irene. Together, they made a beautiful, welcoming home in Stratton Forest. They were married forty years. Dave enjoyed staying active by skiing, jogging, playing tennis and sailing with family and friends. He was a member of the Springfield Ski Club and Simsbury Tennis House. He enjoyed photography and created beautiful Christmas cards from his photos. Memorial services will be held December 4, 2021, at Simsbury United Methodist Church, 799 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT at 12:00 PM.
