David Gussak Obituary

David Lee Gussak, born in London England, died peacefully on March 22, 2023 at the age of 88. After immigrating to the United States at the age of 9, David grew up in Brookline, MA. He graduated from Brookline High School, attended Tufts University and Columbia Law School.

He was a litigator in the state of Connecticut for over 50 years. He had a deep love of the law and was never happier than when he was immersed in legal combat. Even while hospitalized, he was thinking only of his most recent unfinished brief that would need an extension.

David had a long love affair with skiing, teaching all of his children to ski and sharing his love of the sport with his grandchildren as well. With a core group of his male friends, he made yearly trips to the mountain west for over 25 years, sharing stories with friends and family for years after.

David was passionate about spending time at any beach, with a good book, a comfortable chair and a trusted hat. Often he was the last one to arrive back at the cottage. On most Sundays you could find David reading the New York Times arts and entertainment section scanning the listings of Broadway and off-Broadway offerings. For over 50 years, he and Margery would head down to the city 3-4 times per year to take in a show, a deli, and a quick trip to Zabars.

While he loved being at home with family and friends, David traveled both near and far, exploring the world's art galleries, natural wonders and food offerings. He was blessed to be the recipient of amazing food, prepared by Margery, for over six decades. He was always one of her biggest fans and most strident supporters, never hesitating to don an apron to serve as her business's first official dishwasher.

David is survived by Margery, his wife of 62+ years, his four daughters, Deborah, Andrea, Lisa and Nancy and his four grandchildren, Hannah, Olivia, Sage and Max.

Calling hours will be held at the family home in Manchester, CT on Sunday March 26, 2023 from 2-6 pm.

My thoughts are with the family. David was a great man, and I will miss complaining about insurance companies with him. He always had a new quick quip that would make the whole office chuckle. I'm going to miss our talks. He was my favorite client.

We were partners for a short few years but David was an experience never forgotten...brilliant, humorous and engaging. He was always mentoring and hectoring. He and Margery were wonderful hosts and we had many great food experiences with them. He never forgot his roots. He loved his work. I will never forget him.

My condolences to the. Gussak family.

Often I have said as Atty Gussak would say "that´s toothpaste out of the tube". Thanks for starting me on a work path that lasted 25 years.
