David Stoner Obituary

David S. Stoner, 61, of Bloomfield and West Hartford died on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. He was the beloved husband for 38 years and best friend for 55 years, to wife, Lizabeth Stoner. He was the cherished father to his daughter, Dina Lynn, and his two sons, Benjamin Maxwell and his wife Emily and Alexander Lee. He also leaves his sister, Alyce Stoner and his adored dog, Riley. Born in Hartford, David was the son of the late Audrey and Melvin Stoner of West Hartford. David grew up in West Hartford and also raised his family there. He graduated Watkinson in 1974 and attended Northeastern and Bentley College. David was owner and principal along with his dad, Melvin, in Stoner Group. He was the President of David Stoner & Company and David S. Stoner & Son, LLC, and along with his son, Benjamin, these entities became prominent and prolific building and real estate development companies of fine homes and developments in the Greater Hartford area and beyond, spanning 40 years. Between condominiums and single-family homes, David along with his father and son, constructed over 700 homes. His reputation as one of the finest, quality custom home builders precedes him as many resales boast "Stoner built" as a favorable selling feature. David loved golf, playing and watching and even scored two hole-in-ones, but his most favorite past time was spending time with his family who will miss him immeasurably. David was a past member of Cliffside Country Club, Congregation Beth Israel and a past board member of The Bridge Family Center. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 1:30PM at Congregation Beth Israel, 701 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., in West Hartford. Following interment, the family will receive friends and observe Shiva at the home of Lizabeth and David in Bloomfield and again on Monday and Tuesday from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to The American Heart Association, The Leukemia Society, The Bridge Family Center, West Hartford or The Whole In The Wall Gang Camp. May his cherished memory be a blessing and a source of strength. Funeral arrangements provided by Hebrew Funeral Association, West Hartford.
