Donald J. Blais Sr.

Donald J. Blais, Sr., 58, retired, Staff Sergaent, U.S. Marine Corps, beloved husband of Carol (Coville) Blais, died Saturday, (November 23, 2002) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born on January 13, 1944 in Fall River, MA, son of the late Leo D. and Eileen (Foley) Blais, he had lived in Windsor for the last 26 years. Before retiring, he was employed at Super Value Foods, Suffield for 28 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and had a combined service of 20 years. Don was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Windsor, was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps League, Southington Unit, and was the owner and operator of Don's Small Engine Repair, Windsor. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Darrin M. Blais of Wesport, MA; LCpl Donald J. Blais, Jr., U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in Hawaii; two daughters, Dawn Marie (Blais) Tavares of Westport, MA and CarrieAnn Blais, a recruit with the U.S. Marine Corps, Parris Island, SC; two sisters, Carol (Blais) Souza of Taunton, MA and Gail (Blais) Costa of Fall River, MA; and four grandchildren, Cory and Kyle Tavares, and Nathan and Courtney Blais. Funeral service will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., in Grace Episcopal Church, 311 Broad St., Windsor. Burial will be private in Windsor Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. His family will receive friends Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor.
