Donald Liss Obituary

LISS, Donald H. Donald H. Liss, 79, of Newington, beloved husband of Augusta (Pienkowski) Liss, died Monday (July 6, 2009) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in New Britain, son of the late John and Genevieve (Gwaizda) Liss he had been a Newington resident for over 50 Years. Donald was a very kind and gentle man who loved his family dearly. He was an avid card player and enjoyed bowling. He was also a member of the Donau Society of New Britain. He is survived by his wife of 57 years and his five daughters, Debora Becker and her husband Robert of Vermont, Marsha Bolas of Connecticut, Donna Liss of California, Audrey Wallis and her husband Troy of New Hampshire, Andrea Liss of Connecticut; his five grandchildren, Ryan Becker and his wife Kate Hughes, Jessica Becker, Jonathan Becker, Danielle Bolas and Donald Wallis; two step-grandchildren Alexis Walsh and Nicholas Adams; his brother Walter Liss and his wife Natalie of New Britain; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Jean Riccio and his son in-law Joseph Adams. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. from the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington. Interment with full Military Honors will be held in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
