Andy, Doug and Dave, I just learned of your Dad's passing. My heartfelt condolences to you and your families.
Where to start? I have so many great memories of family get togethers with your Dad. Middlebury and the Dog Team restaurant, Christmas Eve and Glug..., vacations in the Lake Sunapee area, deep sea fishing out of Noank for blues... and sitting in the back of his Ford LTD cruising down the Mass Pike while he predicted which radio station would be clear as soon as we reached the crest of a hill.
Your Dad was larger than life. To this day I fondly can hear his laugh.
Heaven is a richer place with him there.

I enjoyed growing up with Don's son Doug. Mr Maclean was one of the good dads...always positive and supportive. He'll be missed by many.

Doug and Donna, my deepest sympathies. It is always tough losing a parent, I understand. I am so sure he was a wonderful man, and lucky to have you both. Many blessings and prayers through this difficult time. Beth

My condolences to the Maclean family.
I was just a little third grader in Melrose maybe 1943 or 1944. I can still picture as clear as day Don running on the football field at top speed to kick the extra point after Melrose scored a touchdown. He may have been a Sopohmore then, and not yet a regular starter on a very strong football team. That image has crossed my mind dozens of times over the years. (I am now 80)
I recall one time a bunch neighborhood high school kids were playing touch football down on Maple Road in front of Bobby Alden's house. They let me play in the game. (Don was ten times my weight.) He kicked off and I remember being amazed that the ball made a whirring sound as it flew thru the air end over end. I also wondered how he could kick the ball so far with soft toed moccasins on. I think I must have know "Tubber" almost a year before I learned his name was Donald.

All four of us Moger boys had to joy of playing for "Diamond Don" on the Colts - and being in the best neighborhood in Simsbury with the MacLeans, Smiths, Hudsons, Waltons, Wilsons, Clynes, Sandersons, Marshalls ... and on and on!
I am thankful to God for the Don and how he helped shaped me as a young man!

My deepest sympathy to the family of Don MacLean. I met Don while coaching his sons Andy and Doug at Simsbury High School. He was always a very positive influence on his boys and their team mates. May he RIP.

Wow! The picture on-line brought back some warm memories of "Uncle Don" (that is what we called him-not sure why!). His large smile and hearty laugh was legendary! Peace and Love to all as you say goodbye to a great man.

Dear MacLean Family,
One of the hardest things in life is saying goodbye to an old dear friend. Laddie, you never failed to bring a smile to our faces or laughter to our hearts. We'll always remember your quick wit and zest for living.
So rest gentle soul in the comforting arms of the Lord and may perpetual light shine upon you forever.
Sincerely,
Marianne and Peter
