Donna Wood Obituary

Donna (Ososki) Wood, 65, of Terryville, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Sunday at Bristol Hospital. Donna was born April 9, 1956 in Bristol. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Eleanor (Kenna) Ososki and was married to the late Steven Wood until 2005. Donna practiced the Catholic faith and received her sacraments at St. Thomas Parish, Thomaston. Donna was an alumna of Central Connecticut State University, where she attained a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Donna began her career in Human Resources as a Certified Compensation Professional in 1979 at Aetna Life & Casualty. She entered her next chapter in the Compensation field at Travelers Insurance Company in 1996 where she faithfully worked for 25 years until her retirement this year. Donna was a devoted mother, enjoyed family gatherings, annual New England beach trips, keeping up traditions and relishing in her simple pleasures of chocolate, maple walnut sundaes and milestone celebrations with her children at her favorite restaurants. Donna found comfort in her favorite old movies and could recite lines from Moonstruck, The American President and Pretty Woman by heart. Above all, Donna lived her life in service to others and exemplified this message through kind gestures to everyone around her. Her consistent life-long mantra was "Do the right thing." She is survived by her three children, Kyle, Thomas and Abigail Wood; her brother and sister-in-law, John J. and Patty Ososki, her sister Christine and her husband Tony Taillon; many dear uncles and aunts, Anthony and Lori Bergantino, Joan Stankewicz (Godmother), Edward and Ruth Ososki; nephew Michael and niece Alyssa Ososki (Goddaughter); her in-laws, Crandall and Deborah Thompson, Ted and Yvonne Wood, Greg and Rebecca LaPlante and many cherished cousins across generations. Additionally, Donna valued numerous friendships spanning from her school years to her professional years and beyond. Donna and her family are forever grateful for the care, compassion and respect shown to her by the hospital staff at The Bristol Hospital Cancer Care Center, The Smilow Cancer Hospital at St. Francis and Apple Rehab Farmington Valley. Funeral services will start at Scott Funeral Home on Thursday, 7/22 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Thomas Church, Thomaston for an 11:00 a.m. mass. Burial will occur at a later date at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at Scott Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to The Bristol Hospital Cancer Care Center, 14 Brewster Road, Bristol, CT 06010. www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com

I am saddened to have recently heard about Donna´s passing. Her family is in my prayers. We worked together at Travelers in 1996. Then I moved on. However, Donna kept in touch with me over the years with birthday and Christmas cards. She was a lovely, thoughtful and kind person.
