Dora Heden Obituary

Dora "Doris" Watson Smith Heden, died on Sunday, (August 19, 2001) at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center after a long illness bravely endured. Born in Bronx, NY on February 8, 1914, educated in New York City Schools, she worked for 15 years in the office of the Secretary, Columbia University. She and her late husband, Arnold Heden, owned and operated a poultry farm in Callicoon Center, NY before moving to Manchester in 1979. She also worked several years for Tegeler Realty in Jeffersonville, NY. A lifelong Methodist, she was a member of the Hockanum United Methodist Church, East Hartford, and a member of the Martin-Wesley Circe. She leaves to mourn her passing a sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Thornton Carlough of East Hartford; nieces, Nancy and her husband, Norbert Fahey and Marge and her husband, Franklin Suzio and their families of Meriden; niece, Ellen (Carlough) and Larry Mickel and family of Coventry; nephews, William and Chris Kamenoff of Annapolis, MD; Keith and Robin Carlough and family of Hebron; and many dear friends. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Kamenoff. Friends may call at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, Tuesday, Aug. 21, from 7-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m., in the Hockanum United Methodist Church, 178 Main St., East Hartford. Burial will immediately follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. A reception will be held following the burial service in the church social hall. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Hockanum United Methodist Church. The family appreciates the devoted, compassionate care of the staff of Salmon Brook Center, Glastonbury.
