Doris Mascola Obituary

Doris (Bird) Mascola, 82, widow of Joseph P. Mascola of South Windsor, died Wednesday, (December 26, 2001) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Bronx, NY on January 8, 1919, daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy (Polhamus) Bird she had lived in South Windsor for the last 38 years. She was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor, enjoyed decorating, gardening and was an avid UCONN Women's Basketball fan. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and William Corso of Manchester, Patricia and Edward White of Weekapaug, RI and Linda and Joseph Gonthier of Manchester; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a son-in-law, William Moore of Manchester; two nieces and their husbands and family, Donna and Fred D'Aquila of Plainville and Carol and Richard Downs of Enfield; and many grandnieces and nephews and her faithful companion, Zachary. She was predeceased by her daughter, Melanie Moore and her twin brother, Donald Bird. Funeral and burial will be private and there are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, 06108. Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, South Windsor has care of arrangements.

You know me as Barbara Peoples and I am so very sorry about the loss of Doris. She was very dear. My mother & Dad, Paul & Dorothy Peoples loved Doris very much and so did all of their children. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family.
