Dear Joyce,
We were very sorry to hear about "Mama". Although I met her only a few times I felt as if I knew her well - what she liked to wear, what she liked to eat and her favorite color. I will remember her sitting in your car with a blue bow in her hair when you stopped by Wheeler School. You were blessed to have her for so long. She was fortunate to have such a loving and supportive daughter. I know there will be a huge void in your life and you will miss her terribly. May the support and love of friends help you get through this difficult time. I wish I could be there with you today, but you know you are both in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, Sue and John

My condolences to both Joyce and Donald and other members of the family. While I never had the pleasure of meeting Dorothy, I feel as if I know her from the many stories Joyce has shared with me of her mom. I was especially touched by Joyce's recounting of learning to love books while, when Joyce was a youngster, her mother volunteered at their Hamden neighborhood school. From all Joyce has shared with me, I have come to know Dorothy as a loving woman of true dignity who always had a smile to share with the world. I hope that the sympathy and support of friends can help at this time of sorrow.
