Dorothy Tyler Obituary

Dorothy (Weir) Tyler, 89, of Rocky Hill passed away peacefully on Wednesday, (February 5, 2014) at Hughes Convalescent Home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Cleon Tyler. She was a graduate of Hall High School in West Hartford, CT. After graduating she moved to Rocky Hill and met her husband Cleon. She was always proud to tell the story of their first date when she told a friend "I'm going to marry that man", which she did, and they were married for 53 years. Dorothy's legacy will be her devotion to raising her 8 sons. After raising her children she enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Rocky Hill and enjoyed bowling every Sunday night with her late husband. Dorothy leaves her eight sons and their spouses, Aaron and Nancy Tyler of Marlborough, Keith and Marilyn of West Hartford, Clyde and Jeanne of Rocky Hill, Paul and Dawn of Somers, Theodore and Soncha of Enfield, Neal and Tammy of Colorado, Eric and Mary of Colorado, and Bruce Tyler of Hampton. In addition, she leaves her 21 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to the compassionate and professional care she received at Hughes. Calling Hours will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook Street Rocky Hill. Funeral Services will be held at Brooklawn Funeral Home Tuesday at 10 a.m. and burial will be immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy. Suite 100, Rocky Hill CT 06067.
