Duane Martin

Duane Martin, 44 of Suffolk Place, Bristol, husband of Susan (Mills) Martin, died Monday, (February 11, 2002) at Bristol Hospital. Duane was born July 10, 1957 in the Bronx, NY, a son of Laurier and Irene (Dorval) Martin of Hudson, FL. He was employed at New England Aircraft, Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, and was currently owner/operator of Blimpie's in West Hartford. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division. Duane was very active and adventuresome, an avid parachutist belonging to the U.S. Parachuting Association, and enjoyed playing racquetball at the Healthtrax Fitness and Wellness Center. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Brandon M. and Ryan N. Martin of Bristol; a brother, Guy Martin and his wife, Christine of Huntington; and his beloved dog, "Sammy". Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14, 8 p.m. at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Avenue, Forestville. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday evening, 5-8 p.m., three hours prior to the service at 8 p.m. The family has requested that flowers not be sent to the funeral home due to the short duration of the services.
